FOKUS is an umbrella organisation that brings together 44 member organisations to work towards strengthening women's power, opportunities and rights globally. Become a member of FOKUS!
FOKUS is an umbrella organisation with 44 member organisations. What unites our members is a shared goal: strengthening women’s power, opportunities and rights worldwide. Organisations may apply to become a member. Applications are processed by the FOKUS board.
Member organisations receive:
• Offers for talks and lectures on international women’s rights and gender equality issues
• Invitations to trainings, seminars and conferences
• Possibility to apply for grants, e.g. to the UN meeting of the Committee on the Status of Women and the UN General Assembly
• Access to relevant and broad network
• Possibility to apply for support to undertake information activities
• Invitations to participate in thematic working groups
• Possibility to apply for development cooperation projects with partner organisations in FOKUS’ programme countries. At present several member organisations have projects through FOKUS’ framework agreement with Norad. The next opening for applications will be in 2027/28
Who can become a member?
To become a member of FOKUS the applicant organisation must meet the following criteria:
• Must identify with FOKUS’ aims
• Must have at least 25 women members
• Foundations can become members of FOKUS, and are exempted from the criterion concerning members
• It must have as its purpose to promote and safeguard women’s interests and participation
In addition, the applicant organisation must have held an annual assembly, present accounts and annual report, and be able to document that it has operated as an organisation for at least one year.
How to apply for membership?
Organisations that meet these criteria may apply for membership in FOKUS by filling out the application form at the bottom of this page and sending the completed form to
FOKUS@fokuskvinner.no.
Decisions on the admission of new member organisations / foundations are made by the board, and the membership begins when the board has made its decision. The membership fee is 2000 NOK per calendar year.
